Savanna Rain

Savanna Rain, a follow up to Glen Haven, is a small suite of inviting rooms: living room, dining room, bedroom and bathroom.

The collector who commissioned this room setting traveled to South Africa and fell in love with the country. Consistent with this vision, these coordinated wall coverings feature an exotic animal motif, along with the black and off-white color scheme she requested. Like Glen Haven, skylights were used to bring natural light to the upstairs rooms. A lofted bedroom overlooks the living area, and the double bookcase spans both levels from floor to ceiling. There is a handy closet beneath the stairs, and French doors separate the pairs of rooms. Lightly stained doors, bookcases, baseboards, and precisely mitered crown molding offset the soft ivory carpeting. The bathroom includes an oval bathtub, black tiled shower, matching floor, and a glass block window.

Constructed of birch plywood, basswood, fabric, paper, acrylic, and paint.

Dimensions: 24" wide, 18" deep, 18" high, with a standard 18x24 removable frame; 1:12 scale. Sold.

Savanna Rain was featured in the July 2007 issue of American Miniaturist magazine.
