Arbour Ridge

The design for Arbour Ridge was inspired by two structures: the beautiful conservatory of Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, which Mark visited in 1990; and by Richard Morris Hunt’s glass roofed conservatory on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. Mark toured the estate in 1995.

Arbour Ridge will be decorated as a music room and museum. Here is a photo sampling of the early furnishings shown day and night. This collection of fine furniture and musical instruments will be expanded, and the conservatory will also host a lovely series of miniature paintings.

Several artists created the classic furnishings and instruments:
    Harpsichord: Orvin Fjare
    Demi-Lume Side Table: Renee Isabelle
    Cello: Ken Manning
    Harp: painted by Natasha
    Arm Chairs: Nancy Summers

Arbour Ridge was handmade using 1/2” birch plywood, cherry flooring, pine, basswood, resin capitals, glass and acrylic windows, and paint. More than 800 individual pieces were cut to produce the cherry floor.

The conservatory is 31" wide, 18" deep, 25" high. Both sides open for access by decorators.
